H2020 project – GreenSCENT

In the next three years, colleagues from the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management will work together with 15 institutions from 10 European countries on the implementation of the H2020 project Smart Education of Citizens for a Green Future – GreenSCENT. The research team consists of Miroslav Vujičić (manager), Biljana Basarin, Tin Lukić, Uglješa Stankov and Djordjije Vasiljević.

The project aims to change the behaviour of citizens by giving them an opportunity to actively participate in the implementation of the European Commission policy in the context of the European Green Agreement Strategy.

Changing the behaviour of citizens by encouraging empathy towards social and global issues due to climate change is essential for achieving the goals of climate neutrality in Europe by 2050.

The first info day regarding the realization of the TOURCOMSERBIA project

The first info day related to the realization of the TOURCOMSERBIA project was held on April 12, at the Museum of Vojvodina in Novi Sad.

In addition to members of the project team, the event was attended by members of institutions from the tourism sector as key stakeholders in the development of tourism in Serbia, from whom the project received support. During the Info Day, the leaders presented the goals of the project, pointing out the uniqueness and innovation of the project for the improvement of tourism as a growing economic activity of our country. In addition, the participants of the event had the opportunity to get acquainted in more detail with the planned activities that members of the project team will carry out in order to achieve continuous measurement and monitoring of the overall competitiveness of tourism in Serbia.

After the official part, a tour of the exhibition “Where migration ends – from Roman Pannonia to today’s Vojvodina” was organized, which in an innovative way shows the synergy of science, culture and various forms of contemporary art.

Innovative micrometeorological research stations acquired

Thanks to the cross-border project GReENERGY funded by the Interreg-IPA CBC Croatia-Serbia program and implemented by the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Geography, Tourism and Hospitality, we have procured innovative stations for monitoring microclimatic conditions in urban areas. Micrometeorological carts (MMCs) are equipped with Hukseflux NR01 sensors in combination with Testo Globe sensor and automatic meteorological station Davis Vantage Pro2 sensors. The most important element on these MMCs is that it is possible to measure solar and thermal radiation from six different sides simultaneously.

We are proud that our institution is only the fifth in the world to have this type of instrument (after colleagues from America, China, Germany and France). We believe that these instruments will contribute to further research on urban climate and intensify further research of our Urban Climate Research Group (Dr. Stevan Savić, Dr. Dragan Milošević, Dr. Jelena Dunjić, Dr. Ivan Šećerov, Dr. Daniela Arsenović).
