Name of the Study Programme
The name of the study program is MAS Management in Tourism. Upon enrollment, students choose one of the two offered modules: Management of Cultural Tourism and Cultural Heritage (1 year, 60 ECTS credits), Event Management in Tourism (1 year, 60 ECTS credits).
The study program is conducted in Serbian and English.
Professional Title, Academic, or Scientific Title
Upon successful completion of the study program, the title of Master Manager is awarded. Depending on the module, the diploma supplement (field 5.3) contains a more detailed definition: Master Manager – Management of Cultural Tourism and Cultural Heritage, or Master Manager – Event Management in Tourism.
Admission Conditions
The requirements for enrollment in the MAS Management in Tourism study program (for both modules) are:
- completed basic academic studies lasting four years and 240 ECTS credits,
- position on the ranking list within the approved student enrollment quota,
- passed subjects of the entry module, which will be defined by the Regulations on Student Enrollment in the current school year.
The purpose of the MAS Management in Tourism study program is the multidisciplinary education of academic experts in the field of tourism (cultural tourism, cultural heritage, event management) capable of responsible managing and directing various tourist and cultural organizations and events.
The purpose of the MAS Management in Tourism study program – Management of Cultural Tourism and Cultural Heritage module is to educate academic experts in the field of cultural heritage and cultural tourism management in order to equip them for responsible planning, organization, management and leadership of institutions in the field of cultural tourism (cultural institutions, non-governmental organizations engaged in cultural tourism, tourist organizations); acquiring competencies for high-quality organization of cultural events in numerous public and private enterprises; determining the effects and significance of cultural events for the development of tourism at the destination.
The purpose of the MAS Management in Tourism study program – Event Management in Tourism module is to educate academic experts capable of professional engagement in the field of planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating tourism events in the public and private sectors. The module aims to equip students to manage different types of events – cultural, sports, business, special – in accordance with the needs of the modern tourism market and the increasing role of events in the overall tourism offer of a destination.
This module offers in-depth, specialized knowledge and practical skills necessary for work in tourism organizations, hotels, agencies, congress centers, fairs, various cultural institutions and other institutions that organize or support tourism events.
The aim of the MAS Management in Tourism study program is to educate, through a multidisciplinary approach, personnel in the field of cultural tourism and event management, who should acquire skills, professional knowledge and titles for work in these sectors of the tourism industry.
The master’s study program is a more advanced academic or professional discipline. Students should demonstrate originality in the application of knowledge and understand how the boundaries of knowledge are being pushed by new research. They should deal with complex issues in a systematic and creative way, as well as demonstrate originality in dealing with problems and in solving them.
Students who complete this study program are qualified for:
- creative and innovative work and management in cultural institutions and event management; tourist organizations; tourist information centers; congress centers; fairs; various companies that organize events;
- highly competent and creative planning and management at the level of a tourist destination;
- planning, organizing and managing cultural, business and all other events of importance for the development of tourism at the destination;
- application of modern methods in researching the cultural tourism market and event management;
- development of a cultural tourism product and its interpretation;
- writing project applications in the field of cultural tourism and event management.
