The Department of Biology and Ecology is part of the Faculty of Sciences, with its primary focus on educating professionals in biology and ecology and experts in education within these fields. Biology serves as a fundamental or complementary scientific discipline in numerous research and practice areas, necessitating specialized professional training for work in research and development laboratories. At the Department of Biology and Ecology, students can access modern equipment and collections of plant and animal materials, essential for scientific research. The Department actively participates in international scientific projects and collaborates with universities in Thailand and Belarus, as well as with the European Union, through mobility and scholarship programs such as Erasmus Mundus and JoinEUSEE. Students can actively engage in research activities through the Biology and Ecology Student Research Society “Josif Pančić”, which provides opportunities for developing scientific papers and gaining professional experience.
