Dr Srđan Rončević

Dr Srđan Rončević was born on November 23, 1975, in Bačka Palanka. He graduated from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad, in 1999 (BSc  Chemistry). He completed his master’s degree in 2002 and defended his doctoral dissertation in 2007. In 2017, he was appointed as Full Professor in the field of Chemical Technology. He teaches the following courses at the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Environmental Protection: Fundamentals of Environmental Protection 1 and 2, Soil Protection, Chemical Technology, Control of Industrial Wastewater Emissions 1, Zero-Waste Technology, Remediation Technologies and Processes.
At the master’s level, he teaches Remediation of Contaminated Sites, and at the doctoral level, Selected Topics in Environmental Protection and Remediation Processes.

Dr. Rončević is the mentor of four defended doctoral dissertations. He has co-authored two university textbooks and eight supplementary textbooks. His scientific research focuses on chemistry and environmental protection technology, particularly on water, sediment, and soil remediation technologies. He has co-authored more than 60 papers listed in the SCI, with over 1,900 citations, and has an h-index of 24. He has participated in more than 90 projects and studies, leading one international, two national, and one local project. In 2021, he received a recognition award for scientific excellence from the Provincial Secretariat for Higher Education and Scientific Research, as the most cited researcher in the field of technical sciences in Vojvodina, specifically in the subfields of transportation, urbanism, civil engineering, water management, land protection, and air quality.

Dr. Rončević has held various positions: Member of the National Council for Higher Education (2022–2024), Member of the Council of the University of Novi Sad (2019–2024), Deputy President of the Committee for Integrated Research, Artistic Work, and International Cooperation of the University Senate (2015–2018), President of the Board of FONDUNS since 2021, Vice Dean for Science, International Cooperation, and Development at the Faculty of Science (2015–2024), Assistant Director of the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Environmental Protection (2010–2015), Member of the Faculty of Science’s Academic Council since 2009, Head of Undergraduate Chemistry Studies (2013–present), Head of the accredited Laboratory for Environmental Chemical Testing “Docent Dr. Milena Dalmaţia” (2009–2012, 2014–2015), and its Chief (2017–2018), Member of the Expert Council for Natural Sciences of the Provincial Secretariat for Science and Technological Development (2008–2018), Member of the KS H047 Chemistry Commission at the Institute for Standardization of Serbia since 2012, Member of the Awards and Public Recognition Committee of the Serbian Chemical Society since 2021.

He is married and has two daughters.
